LEARN HOW COUNSELING CAN HELP…

Individual Therapy:

Individual therapy for persons on the Autism Spectrum. We believe that our clients are uniquely wired in a manner that often can be misunderstood. Our goal is to support you while enhancing your life through therapy focused on your goals, strengths, and areas of improvement. Common areas of focus include:

  • Life skills.
  • Play therapy.
  • Social skills.
  • Behavioral changes/modification.
  • Goal setting.
  • Learning to regulate emotions.
  • Support through life stages and significant transitions (education, new environment, parenting, couples/marriage).

Family Therapy:

Family counseling for Autism includes more people which makes it that much more fun. Your counselor will work to get to know the key members of your family system that are involved in counseling in order to provide support. At times this means that the counselor works with a parent and child. Or even both parents. We are always open to having you include your siblings, friends, or relatives in a session. This is your place of comfort and support.

Together, we work on developing a plan that connects to your needs. We will support you in understanding why the challenges are taking place, building healthy and clinically effective coping skills to address the challenges, and creating a support system within your family system.

Therapy For Parents:

As a parent, you often see what most people do not. You see the highs and lows. The moments that your child achieves that one goal they have been working towards. You see the struggle that may take place when getting ready or dealing with negative reactions from society.

Counseling is here to help. We take time to get to you as a parent. Together we work on addressing the challenges that are taking place with your child and in your life. Common reasons parents seek therapy include:

  • Struggle to help your child with social and life skills.
  • Excessive conflict with your child.
  • Support with managing personal thoughts connected to Autism.
  • The family has recently undergone a transition. This can include but not limited to becoming a blended family, moving, experiencing loss, trauma, or divorce.
  • Feeling stuck and not sure what to do when it comes to helping your child.
  • Noticing that your child has let go of their past routines or social circle.
  • Desire to give your child the best life possible.
