At Santos Counseling, we’re thrilled to launch Camp Rise Above, our newest pilot program. We believe every child has the power to rise above challenges, doubts, and fears to become the strongest version of themselves. This isn’t just a camp—it’s an adventure in mental fitness, resilience, and unstoppable confidence!

Common Questions About The Summer Camp

Summer Camp Fees

Camp Fees & Payment Information

  • Consultation: A 45-minute consultation with both the parent and child (required). This initial assessment will help determine if our camp can effectively meet your child’s specific needs.

  • Camp Fee: $350 total for the 4-day camp (non-refundable).

  • Deposit: A non-refundable $50 deposit is due to hold your child’s spot in the camp. This deposit will be applied to the total camp cost.

  • Remaining Balance: The remaining balance is due two weeks prior to camp. This balance is also non-refundable. The card on file will be automatically charged one week before the camp start date.

Spaces are limited! To keep a healthy ratio of counselor to participant we only accept a limited number of participants.

Where is the camp located?

The summer camp is located at 411 Dolley Madison Road, Greensboro NC 27410. The camp will include indoor and outdoor activities for participants. 

What are the age ranges for the camp?

The camp is for kids ages 8 to 13 years old. This includes the range of rising 3rd graders and 8th grades. 

What are the camp dates and hours?

The camp starts on June 23 and runs to June 26th. Participants are dropped off between 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM. The camp will run from 9 AM to 12 PM. 

Is the camp full-day or half-day?

This is a half-day camp. The camp is from 9 AM to 12 PM.

Is lunch and/or snacks provided, or should my child bring their own?

Snacks are provided for the participants during the camp. We will ensure to cover allergy restrictions and other related items with parents prior to registration. 

How do I register my child for camp?

Are all activities therapeutic, or are there traditional camp activities as well?

While our activities have therapeutic elements, we also include traditional camp fun to provide a balanced and enjoyable experience. We incorporate outdoor activities such as cooperative games to encourage team building, emotional development, and connection.

Example schedule for the camp:

We follow a structured daily schedule to provide consistency while allowing flexibility to meet the dynamic needs of our participants. Below is an example schedule to help you better understand a typical day.
8:30-9:00 am – Drop off
  • Independent activities for kids while we wait for everyone to arrive.

9:00-9:50 – Outdoor Activity

  • Focused on social skills and team building.
  • Fun and interactive activities. ie. Wind down with a mindfulness, yoga, or relaxation exercise
9:50-10:00 am – Break/transition
10:00 am-10:45 am – Indoor Therapeutic Activity
  • Board games, card games, or art projects.
  • Activities will have a few options planned and let kids choose.
10:45 am-11:00 am – Break/snack
11:00 am-12:00 pm – Group Activity with Therapist
  • A licensed counselor will lead a group workshop on a relevant topic (managing emotions, coping skills, social skills)
  • Kids will learn practical social and emotional skills to use in their everyday life.

12:00 pm – Pick up time

The Camp is led by licensed mental health counselors from Santos Counseling, along with experienced co-facilitators. All camp leaders hold at least an undergraduate degree and bring a diverse range of experience in working with kids, from school settings to mental health offices. This unique blend of expertise ensures that participants receive a well-rounded, supportive, and enriching experience as they explore their emotions in a safe and fun environment.

Is this camp religious or affiliated with a specific belief system?

We welcome all children from all backgrounds.

Can my child attend if they have never been to therapy before?

Absolutely. No prior therapy experience is required to benefit from our program.

What types of skills will my child learn?

Participants will learn mental wellness skills in a fun, interactive, and judgment-free space—this includes emotional awareness, stress management, effective communication, problem-solving, and building healthy relationships.

What is the camper-to-counselor ratio?

We aim to maintain a low camper-to-counselor ratio to ensure personalized attention and support, typically 6:1. We will have certain activities that may include bringing the group together. At this point, we will have a 12:2 ratio.

What qualifications do the camp counselors have?

The Emotion Explorers Summer Camp is facilitated by counselors who will take on the title of “camp leaders”. All of the camp leaders hold a minimum of an undergraduate degree, with the licensed mental health professionals holding a master’s or doctorate.

What safety measures do you have in place?

Safety is our top priority. Our measures include secure facilities, background checks for all staff, regular safety drills, and adherence to health guidelines. We will ensure that all participants complete waivers and other safety-related documents. Participants will always be in group settings and never alone. with counselors.
